Wedding & Event FAQ

We get lots of questions about our desserts for weddings and special events. Hopefully one of these frequently asked questions answers yours!

Do you make tiered cakes?

We do not make tiered cakes. We can stack two cakes of the same size and frost them as one, resulting in a taller cake.

How do I get enough servings to feed a big wedding crowd?

Your best bet is to order a small centerpiece cake for photos, cutting, oo’s and ah’s. Order sheet cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bars, or some combination to serve to the rest of the party.

Do you offer cake tastings?

Our cake tastings are informal—plan to order some cupcakes in whichever flavor combinations sound best. We keep them refrigerated until you arrive, and they’ll have to come up to room temperature before you enjoy them.

There is no minimum quantity for you to order.

Cupcakes do not come standard with filling, so if you see a cake flavor that has a filling associated with it (example: carrot cake) please specify if you would like to try it filled as to mimic the flavor of the full sized cake.

Are the sheet cakes filled?

No, we do not fill sheet cakes. If you see a flavor of cake that you’d like in the form of a sheet cake, note that it will be the cake with its corresponding frosting flavor, and not include the associated filling.

Do you make gluten free cakes?

No, unfortunately that’s not our wheelhouse. We have a small selection of gluten free desserts (notably the chocolate mousse torte and a few different cookies) if you need to accommodate gluten-free guests.

Can I send you inspiration photos?

Please! We can never guarantee an exact replication of someone else’s work, and we may have to rework the design using your photos as scaffolding. It helps us to see what direction you’d like to go in.

Do you do vintage cakes?

Yes we do. These cakes require a little extra height, so we usually recommend going down a size (based on how many servings you are going for) and stacking the cake double-high.

How are vintage cakes priced?

We price them based on size, fillings, complexity of design, and use of food dye (including how many colors are involved.)

Do you make heart shaped cakes?

Yes but… Our heart shaped cake pans are about 4″x4″ (serves 1-2 people) We can stack layers of cake 2-high (4 servings) or 3 high (6 servings.) If you’d like your cake to be shaped like a heart it will only serve 2, 4, or 6 people, depending on how many layers you go with.

Can we put fresh flowers on our centerpiece cake?

Yes. If you’re working with a florist, we recommend putting us in touch with them. We will need you or your florist to drop off the cake’s flowers a day in advance. Otherwise, there is no guarantee of what flowers we will be able to source for your cake.

Can we use cake toppers or other specific decorations?

If you would like to use decorations, such as cake toppers or specific sprinkles, you will need to have these items delivered to the bakery (through Amazon, for example) or dropped off at the bakery at least a week in advance.

Can you write on wedding cakes?

We sure can.

Do you require advanced payment?

Yes, your order must be paid at least a week in advance. Please pay in person or over the phone during business hours, or mail a check made out to Ceres Bakery.

Can I cancel or make changes to my order?

We require a week’s notice for changes or cancellations. Unfortunately, we cannot refund you if you cancel after that window has passed.

Do you deliver?

We offer in town delivery, provided that we have a staff member available to do a drop-off. Some days and times may be tricky due to staffing. The more notice we have, the more likely it is.
